Dr. Kenneth Tang is a board-eligible periodontist who provides comprehensive periodontal and implant care at Virginia Smiles in Stafford, Fredericksburg, and North Fredericksburg. He is dedicated to helping patients achieve long-term oral health through a thoughtful, personalized approach to treatment.

Dr. Tang focuses on preserving natural teeth whenever possible, using preventive and regenerative techniques to support healthy smiles. When tooth replacement is needed, he applies advanced surgical methods and digital technology to deliver precise, functional, and esthetic implant outcomes. His expertise includes both non-surgical care such as scaling and root planing, as well as advanced procedures including bone grafting, soft tissue augmentation, and dental implant placement.

With a background that combines engineering and clinical research, Dr. Tang brings a high level of precision and attention to detail to every procedure. He utilizes advanced tools such as CBCT imaging and guided implant surgery to ensure care is both accurate and tailored to each patient’s needs.

Dr. Kenneth Tang’s journey into dentistry began with a strong commitment to patient care. While studying biomedical engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University, he volunteered at VCU Medical Center’s Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, where he provided comfort and support to patients during recovery. This early exposure shaped his philosophy of combining science and compassion in healthcare.

He went on to earn a Master of Science in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, where he conducted research on novel therapeutic delivery systems aimed at improving treatment options for diabetes, a chronic disease affecting millions worldwide. This work deepened his understanding of how scientific innovation can improve patients’ lives.

Dr. Tang then completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at Temple University, followed by advanced specialty training in periodontics, where he served as both chief resident and resident representative. These leadership roles, combined with his academic and clinical training, gave him a deep appreciation for clinical excellence, patient advocacy, and advancing education—values that continue to define his practice today.

He practices the full scope of periodontal treatment, including non-surgical therapy such as scaling and root planing, to surgical treatments, including extraction and bone grafting, osseous resective therapy, guided tissue regeneration, guided bone regeneration, minimally invasive soft tissue augmentation (tunnel and traditional), and digital implementation in implant dentistry for single, multi-unit, and full-arch implant placement.

He emphasizes prevention, regenerative therapies, and meticulous surgical technique to help patients maintain their own teeth.
